A fatal accident involving a head-on collision between a truck and a seven seater Autorikshaw resulted in the death of seven persons on the spot and injuring four others. The Injured have been shifted to Humnabad Government hospital and are under treatment. The deceased have been identified as vishwashanth 28 yrs the driver of the auto, Puthli bai 45 rs, Uday Kumar 28 yrs, Karuna Bai 13 yrs belonging to Molkera village of Humnabad taluk and Nabisaab 50 yrs, Sohail 9yrs and Kaalidaasa 45yrs belonging to Rajeshwar village of Basavakalyan taluk all passengers of the auto. They were all traveling from Rajeshwar towards Humnabad. The accident occurred at about 9.15 AM today 05-09-2008 at Chidri petrol bunk on the National Highway 9. The driver of the truck coming from Hyderabad and headed towards Sholapur tried to overtake another vehicle in front and drove to the wrong side of the road, thereby colliding head on with the autorikshaw coming in the opposite direction. Humnabad police and senior officers visited the spot immediately and assisted the relief work. A case has been booked in Humnabad police station against the negligent driver of the truck under Cr No. 352/08 under sections 279, 337, 338 & 304 A of IPC R/w section 187 of IMV act, and is under investigation. The driver of the truck has since been absconding.
